It is not hard to understand why this tour holds special appeal. The ancient alleyways, shady colonial avenues and cluttered highways provide a perfect window to the lives and landscapes of this dynamic country.
Lots of time on this tour is spent sight seeing and exploring Vietnam. Participants can cycle as much or as little as they like and still enjoy the same views as the rest of the group.
- Duration: 4 day(s)
- Location: Sai Gon - Vung Tau - Phan Thiet - Phan Rang - Nha Trang
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Binh Chau (145 km)
Transfer to Ba Ria (90 km north-east of Saigon) for the first biking tour. Mostly countryside, some of the routes feature new urbanization. The destination is Binh Chau, a place of natural hot water, which is close to pretty beaches and a preserved zone. Participants can enjoy the charming beaches and also the hot water spa and mud bath. This hot spring has the best natural elements, which are good for building resistance and speeding recovery. Overnight stay is at Binh Chau Eco Resort.
Day 2: Binh Chau - Ham Tan Bac - Mui Ne/Phan Theit (120 km)
The area between Binh Chau and Ham Tan Bac is rural (75 km). Participans will ride through rice fields, orchards and rustic villages, with the coastline to the right.
Participants could either choose to stay in Ham Tan Bac or continue onward to Mui Ne, which is 45 km away. At Ham Tan Bac, stay is organised at a special beach resort called Rock Garden. The rooms here are inside exotic rock huts overlooking to the ocean. The beaches have very fine sand and picturesque rocks.
Information on Phan Thiet: A relatively new comer on the tourist map, Mui Ne is known to have one of the best beaches in Vietnam. The water is always warm, clean and deep blue. Nearby one finds rolling sand dunes with Cham temples that are over 1,000 years old. The lazy city of Phan Thiet features a 36-hole golf course, gardens of dragon fruit, salt fields and fishing villages with plenty of very colourful fishing boats anchored tightly at the estuaries nearby the city.
At 20 km, Phan Thiet city is not too far from the beach resort. In fact, it is at an ideal location, with nice roads and fresh atmosphere for biking.
Places tourists might like to visit include Phan Thiet city (20 km), ancient Cham Towers, and the golf course, which are all on the way to Phan Thiet. The rolling sand dunes, fishing village and Lotus Lake are about 10 to 25 km away in the opposite direction. All the above places promise a nice biking day.
Day 3: Phan Thiet - Phan Rang
After breakfast, leave by bus; then bike to Phan Rang. The landscape between Phan Thiet and Phan Rang changes to an arid semi-desert with sandy soil and prickly pear cactus. Participants arrive at Ninh Chu beach and check into a hotel. While the total journey is 130 km, participants cycle for about 60 to 70 km.
Day 4: Phan Rang - Nha Trang (106 km)
Participants cycle along a road with full view of rock and grape field to visit the spectacular Po Klong Garai Cham Temple. The journey continues to Nha Trang along a road with coconut and prawn farms. The group reaches Nha Trang at 4.30 pm and checks into a hotel. Participants cycle for about 60 to 80 km on this last day.
